Author, speaker and media personality Brandon Steiner of world-renowned Steiner Sports will speak at the O2 Breathe-A-Thon 2020, a major live online event commemorating Global Airway Day on Oct. 2.

Established in 2019 by the Foundation for Airway Health, the annual global day aims at raising awareness about airway health issues. This year’s activities will also address urgent matters related to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Brandon Steiner in his office.“Mr. Steiner is an admired businessman who exemplifies the ingenuity of American and human entrepreneurship,” says Sal Rodas, executive director of the Foundation for Airway Health. “His rags-to-riches story is inspiring and his dynamic and renowned sports media personality will wonderfully enrich our Breathe-A-Thon, helping us spread the message in the sports world and among the general public.”

BASEBALL FAN SINCE CHILDHOOD
A prominent sports business personality in the U.S., Steiner comes from humble beginnings and has always loved baseball.

Growing up poor in New York’s Brooklyn borough and a fan of baseball from an early age, he struggled as a child to collect enough money to go to New York Stadium in the summers. That boy would go on to be associated with his city’s baseball team and even own valuable pieces from the Big Apple’s iconic stadium.

VISIONARY ENTREPRENEUR
His business career started out in Baltimore’s food and hospitality industry, which also took him back to New York. Managing top restaurants at his natal city, he met many athletes that inspired him to establish a sports representation agency that is now called Steiner Sports. “My mindset has always been to be fearless,” says Steiner. “That mentality has helped me secure partnerships with the most elite names in sports; Derek Jeter, Eli Manning, Mark Messier and Carmelo Anthony, among others.”

Beyond boasting an impressive roster of who’s who in New York sports, the firm also markets collectible sports items. He also acquired portions of the old Yankee Stadium before its demolition for a new product line of stadium items. He also owns the Steiner Agency and the CollectibleXchange that connect clients with exclusive sports properties.

AUTHOR & MEDIA EXPERT
With a vast experience in the sports business, Steiner has written two books, The Business Playbook: Leadership Lessons from the World of Sports and You Gotta Have Balls: How a Kid from Brooklyn Started from Scratch, Bought Yankee Stadium, and Created a Sports Empire. He has also been a regular guest on media outlets such as 98.7 FM/ESPN-NY Radio, CNBC, CNN, MSNBC and ESPN, The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. He also co-hosted the YES Network series “Yankees-Steiner: Memories of the Game.”

SUPPORTING FAH
Steiner’s stature and interest in helping worthwhile causes makes him a valuable talent to be featured at the O2 Breathe-A-Thon 2020 and perfectly aligned with the mission of the Foundation for Airway Health. “He is truly a legend,” says Howard Hindin, foundation chairman.

Founded in 2012, the nonprofit is dedicated to raising awareness of airway-centered disorder, or ACD, among the general public, healthcare practitioners and the healthcare industry.

ACD is a condition of the mouth, jaw, nasal passages, tongue, or throat that obstructs a person’s upper airways. Signs of ACD include speech problems, concentration problems, behavioral issues, asthma, chronic headaches or neck pain, and deep overbite. Other symptoms are depression, fatigue, impaired immune function, restless sleep, trouble falling or staying asleep, and frequent colds, sore throats and tonsillitis.

An undiagnosed and untreated airway-centered disorder increases the risks of atrial fibrillation, cancer, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, obesity and type 2 diabetes.

THE COVID PANDEMIC & AIRWAY HEALTH
The current and devastating Covid-19 crisis has brought attention to the airway, which is used and exploited by the novel coronavirus to enter and infect the body. For that reason and in an effort to help halt the spread of Covid, O2 Breathe-A-Thon 2020 will place special emphasis on how to protect one’s airways and deal with the pandemic. More than 170,000 Americans have died of Covid-19 and more than 800,000 worldwide so far this year. Nearly 24 million cases of coronavirus infections have been reported in the world.
